Articleship is the most important part of CA Course. As far as concerned with CA profession Articleship is called the golden period where you enhance your practical learning as well as build up your personality also. Only bookish knowledge is not enough to become a chartered accountant. So in this blog I am going to tell you the complete procedure on “How to Register for CA Articleship”.

Total duration of Articleship is 3 years and it is not optional but it is compulsory for every CA Student to complete 3 years of Articleship.

So now I am going to share you the complete procedure on How to Register for CA Articleship.

Procedure to Register in Articleship

First you have to purchase or download form number 102 & 103 by making a small payment of 50 rupee to ICAI.

Form 102 :- Registration for Deed of Articles (Download)

Form 103 :- Statement of Particulars to be submitted for Registration as an Article Assistant (Download)

Procedure to fill form number 102

The deed of articles ought to be implement for a period of 3 years, deed lesser than 3 years will not be accepted in any case.

It should be executed on a “Non Judicial Stamp Paper” or “Special Adhesive Stamp” of the prerequisite value which must be affixed on that.

It should be duly signed by the article assistant and the principal which should be executed in a printed form in duplicate.

The original copy should be retained by the principal and the duplicate copy should be retained by the article assistant for a proof.

And the deed of article also not required to be submitted to ICAI for registration of articleship.

Procedure to fill form number 103

Total 3 copies required of form number 103. One copy to be submitted to ICAI 2nd to be retained by principal and last copy should be retained by article assistant.

Students required to submit some documents along with form number 103 which are :-

Attested copy of IPCC marksheet or CA Intermediate declaring the student pass in IPCC either both or first group or any group of CA Intermediate.

Attested copy of 12th marksheet as a proof of Date of Birth.

Attested Copy of completion certificate of ITT and Orientation Program.

The above documents should be submitted along with requisite fees of rupee 2000 through the Demand Draft (Demand Draft must be in the name of “Secretary, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India” and shall be payable at Mumbai/ Kolkata/ Chennai/ Kanpur/ New Delhi depending on the region).

For the students who have already paid the fees at the time of articleship registration need not to pay it again.

All the above documents should be attested by the practising Chartered Accountant under whom the articleship training will begin by the student i.e. the Principal.

The Registration Form 103 must reach to the ICAI within 30 days of the commencement of articleship.

Late Submission of Fee

If any student is not able to submit fee within 30 days of specified time limit then, Form should be accompanied by a hand written application in which candidate have to state the reason for non timely submission of the form.

Apart from this student will have to pay some amount for late fee, which are as follows :-

30 days beyond the specified time period :- 100 Rupee
31-180 days beyond the specified time period :- 300 Rupee
Beyond 181 days :- 1000 Rupee

Students Identity Card

Student will find an identity card in Form number 103 which should be duly filled with the requisite details and a latest passport size photograph should be affix on such identity card. The identity card should be duly signed by the candidate and principal at the appropriate places.

This card is mandatory to be submitted and will be valid for a period of three years starting from the date of registration.
