How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India
Chartered Accountancy (CA) Course is one of the most reputed course in commerce stream and every commerce student want to be a CA. So if you want to become a Chartered Accountant then in this blog I will explain in detail that How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India.
Eligibility to become a Chartered Accountant in India
There are 2 ways to become a Chartered Accountant.
- Through Foundation Course route (CA after 12th)
- Through Direct Entry route (CA after graduation)
1. Through Foundation Course route (CA after 12th)
In this point I will explain that How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India after 10+2
You can enrol yourself through Foundation Course after appearing in class 12th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
There are no percentage, no any stream and no age required to enrol yourself through foundation course.
Even a just pass student from science background or arts background can also enroll himself in Foundation Course.
After registering yourself in CA Foundation Course you need to complete minimum 4 months to study after that you will eligible for examination.
Means if you register till 30th June then you can appear in November examination and if you register till 31st December then you can appear in May examination.
To appear in each examination level of CA you need to fill CA examination form which is announced nearly 3 months before exam.
After successful passing CA Foundation exam you have to register yourself in CA Intermediate Course.
Appear in Intermediate Examination on completion of 8 months of study course as on first day of the month in which the examination is to be held.
After successful passing CA Intermediate Examination you need to undergo Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (ICITSS).
(ICITSS) course can also be done before passing exam also means any time during 8 months of study period.
Join articled training after passing either of the Group or Both Groups of Intermediate Course and after successfully undergoing ICITSS.
Clear the balance Group (if any) of Intermediate Examination.
Register for Final Course.
Successfully undergo Four Weeks Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (AICITSS) consisting of Courses on Advanced Information Technology and Management Communication Skills during the last two years of practical training but before appearing in the Final Examination.
Appear in the Final Examination on completion of the practical training or whileserving last 6 months of articled training on or before the last day of the month preceding the month in which the examination is to be held after successful completion of AICITSS.
Complete articled training of 3 years.
Pass Final Examination.
Enrol as a member of the ICAI and be designated as “Chartered Accountant”.
2. Through Direct Entry route (CA after graduation)
In this point you will get complete information that How to be a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India through direct entry route.
Through Direct Entry there are 2 conditions: –
(I) Commerce Graduate/ Post-Graduates or Other Graduates/ Post Graduates.
(II) Candidates who have passed Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
(I). Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (55%) or Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (60%)
This point will explain you that How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India if you are a commerce graduate/ post graduate.
Any person who have completed his graduation or post graduation in commerce stream (B.com, BBA, M.com, MBA etc.) minimum with 55% or any other stream (B.A., B.C.A., M.A., M.C.A. etc.) minimum with 60% can apply through direct entry route.
There is no any age bar to apply through direct entry route.
Less than 55% in commerce stream & 60% in other stream are not qualified.
If your marks are less than required marks then you can apply through foundation route in which there is no such requirement of percentage.
Enrol with the Institute for Intermediate Course.
After admission in CA Intermediate Course you need to start your training which is called articleship training.
This training needs to be done under a Chartered Accountant in practice which you need to search from your own.
Before your articleship you need to undergo with 4 weeks of Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (ICITSS) consisting of Courses on Information Technology and Orientation Course then only you can start your articleship.
Appear in Intermediate Examination on completion of 9 months of Practical Training on first day of the month in which the examination is to be held.
Appear and pass in both groups of Intermediate Examination.
Register for CA Final Course.
Successfully undergo Four Weeks Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (AICITSS) consisting of Courses on Advanced Information Technology and Management Communication Skills during the last two years of practical training but before appearing in the Final Examination.
Appear in the Final Examination on completion of the practical training or while serving last 6 months of articled training on or before the last day of the month preceding the month in which the examination is to be held after successful completion of AICITSS.
Complete articled training of 3 years.
Pass Final Examination.
Enrol as a member of the ICAI and be designated as “Chartered Accountant”.
(II) Candidates who have passed Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
In this point you will get complete information that How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India if you have pass Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries or Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
Enrol with the Institute for Intermediate Course.
Undergo Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (ICITSS) consisting of Courses on Information Technology and Orientation Course at the earliest but these are to be completed compulsorily before commencement of their articleship.
Appear in Intermediate Examination on completion of 8 months of study course as on first day of the month in which the examination is to be held.
Candidates who have passed Intermediate level examination of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India need to start their articleship just after registration in Intermediate Course.
They need to register after passing either of the Group or Both Groups of Intermediate Course.
Join articled training after passing either of the Group or Both Groups of Intermediate Course and after successfully undergoing ICITSS.
Clear the balance Group (if any) of Intermediate Examination.
Register for Final Course.
Successfully undergo Four Weeks Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft skills (AICITSS) consisting of Courses on Advanced Information Technology and Management Communication Skills during the last two years of practical training but before appearing in the Final Examination.
Appear in the Final Examination on completion of the practical training or while serving last 6 months of articled training on or before the last day of the month preceding the month in which the examination is to be held after successful completion of AICITSS.
Complete articled training of 3 years.
Pass Final Examination.
Enrol as a member of the ICAI and be designated as “Chartered Accountant”.
